Race Team

Helping young athletes grow

Since its founding, the Winter4Kids Race Team has helped young athletes grow not only as skiers, but as confident, resilient, and supportive individuals.
Built within a youth-only mountain environment, the Winter4Kids Alpine Race Team provides athletes with the opportunity to pursue alpine ski racing in a structured, development-focused program that prioritizes long-term growth, skill progression, and character development.
The program supports athletes across multiple age groups and ability levels, creating pathways for both competitive racers and athletes looking to strengthen their skiing skills, confidence, and love for the sport.
More than racing, the program teaches commitment, accountability, perseverance, teamwork, and the ability to rise through challenge.

What the Experience Looks Like

Race Team athletes train in a consistent and supportive environment designed specifically for youth development. Programming includes:
  • Structured on-snow training focused on technical development and progression
  • Age and ability-based coaching groups
  • Race preparation and competition opportunities
  • Video analysis and skill feedback
  • Team-building and mentorship
  • Strengthened independence, discipline, and resilience through sport
Athletes train alongside peers who encourage and support one another while being guided by experienced coaches committed to long-term athlete development. Programming is available for a range of commitment levels, from introductory competitive pathways to athletes pursuing US Ski & Snowboard competition.

What Athletes Gain

Through consistent training, coaching, and competition experiences, athletes develop:
  • Advanced skiing and alpine racing skills
  • Confidence under pressure
  • Resilience through challenge and setbacks
  • Goal-setting and personal accountability
  • Strong teamwork and sportsmanship
  • Lasting friendships and community connection
The mountain becomes more than a training ground. It becomes a place where young people learn how to push themselves, support others, and believe in what they are capable of achieving.
Every training day, race, and breakthrough moment reinforces an important lesson: growth happens outside your comfort zone.

Race Team By the Numbers

Hundreds of athletes participate annually across development and competition programs
  • Year-over-year program growth continues across U8–U21 age groups
  • Training opportunities offered throughout the winter season
  • Athletes participate in US Ski & Snowboard, NYSSRA, and NJISRA competition opportunities

Development Pathways

The Winter4Kids Race Team offers multiple pathways to support athletes at different stages of development, including:
  • Development (Devo) Programs
  • U8–U21 Alpine Racing
  • High School Racing Support
  • Holiday and Training Camp Opportunities
  • Introductory competitive experiences for newer athletes
Whether an athlete is stepping into gates for the first time or pursuing high-level competition, Winter4Kids focuses on creating a positive environment where athletes can develop both on and off the mountain.

“The Race Team helped me become more confident, independent, and motivated. I learned how to work through challenges, support my teammates, and believe in myself both in races and in everyday life.”

More than the Mountain

Winter4Kids believes racing should be about more than results. Our program emphasizes athlete growth, positive culture, mentorship, and creating an environment where families feel connected and supported. The relationships formed through the Race Team often extend far beyond the mountain, creating a community built around encouragement, resilience, and shared experiences.

U8 Athletics

Healthy Competition & Motivation For Young Kids

U8 Athletics at Winter4Kids Ages 6–7 • Intermediate-level skiers • Must be Chairlift proficient

The U8 program is a skill-focused development path built on United States Ski & Snowboard best practices. Designed for young skiers who can ride the chairlift independently and ski intermediate terrain, this program introduces children to foundational gate training and refining skiing techniques. Our goal is to foster a love of skiing and build the competencies needed for more advanced competition. Skiing evaluation is required—US Ski & Snowboard credentials are not necessary.
